2013 TASA/TASB Legislative Conference meets today in Austin

Today I will be attending the 2013 TASA/TASB Legislative Conference  hosted by the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) and Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) in Austin, Texas.

Trustees, administrators, association staff and political insiders will gather to discuss the Texas 83rd Legislative Session and what pending legislation may mean for school districts. As with all other Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) conferences this year, registration is free.

Guest speakers at the conference will include:

  • Sen. Royce West (D- Dallas), Senate Education member;
  • Sen. Dan Patrick (R- Houston), Senate Education chair;
  • Rep. Jimmy Don Aycock (R-Killeen), House Public Education chair;
  • Rep. John Otto (R- Dayton), House Appropriations Subcommittee on Article III (education) chair;
  • Ross Ramsey, executive director of The Texas Tribune; and
  • Raymond Paredes, Commissioner of Higher Education.
Governmental relations staff from TASA and TASB will provide an update on legislative activities and proposed bills in preparation for visits to Capitol offices to meet with legislators and staff.
