TASB directors meet November 30 - Dec. 1 in Austin

The Board of Directors of the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) met in Austin this week-end (Nov. 30 - Dec. 1) at TASB headquarters.  Directors help provide TASB governance by representing School Boards throughout Texas.

TASB membership consists of  all 1,034 Texas school districts as well as 20 regional education service centers, 50 community colleges, 38 tax appraisal districts and 146 shared service arrangements.

The meeting of TASB Directors included a creative Strategic Planning Session, followed by four standing committee meetings.  I presently serve on the Resolutions/Bylaws Committee, having formerly served on the Budget and Finance and Nominating Committees.

As the Legislature will be in session this year, the TASB Legislative Committee will be on high alert and well-connected to TASB Governmental Relations, as no doubt will be the stance of all Texas School Boards and Trustees.

Thanks to TASB staff for facilitating a slate of well-planned agendas.

At this productive meeting, the deep discussions and work of TASB Directors showed their dedication to public schools and to preserving local control of  public education.
