Texas Association of School Boards hosts 2013 Summer Leadership Institute

TASB Summer Leadership Institute

TASB Vice-President Bret Begert and Immediate Past President Gary W. Inmon with Robyn Benincasa.

Hundreds of Texas ISD trustees, superintendents and school administrators attended a Summer Leadership Institute (SLI) facilitated by the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) this week-end. One purpose of the Institute is to provide board members with current practice and information about key concerns facing Texas school districts. SLI gives public school trustees an opportunity to interact with education leaders from across the state. TASB staff are available to provide resources and answer questions.

In addition to a variety of informative educational sessions, the Institute offered two General Sessions. Featured speakers included Craig Kielburger -- social entrepreneur, New York Times best-selling author and co-founder of Free The Children, a youth-driven charity. Also, Robyn Benincasa, who has made an art form of extreme performance by competing and winning at the highest levels of levels of sports competition and is a New York Times best-selling author and World Champion Adventure Racer.

Craig Kielburger says, "The change starts within each one of us and ends only when all children are free to be children." Robyn Benincasa encourages everyone to explore the human spirit and use human synergy to build teams, overcome obstacles and do amazing things. Both speakers inspire students, young and old, to serve and achieve success.

Thanks to the staff of the Texas Association of School Boards for a well-planned Summer Leadership Institute.
