Resolutions were presented to four District 6 counselors this evening when the Dallas ISD Board recognized their recent achievement as Counselors Reinforcing Excellence for Students in Texas or CREST Award recipients.

The CREST Award is a prestigious opportunity provided by the Texas School Counselor Association for counselors to document the school counselor's role in supporting student success.

Krista Pierce and Yolanda Velazquez -- Jimmie Tyler Brashear Elementary

Nellisia Tolliver and Sherry Wright  --   Boude Storey Middle School

"The counseling department unstintingly works to address the academic and socio-emotional needs of Jimmie Tyler Brashear students.  It serves as a school-wide safety net for students at risk of academic failure and families in need of various services.  Counselors establish community connections that provide services beyond the school walls."
                                                                            -- Principal Derrick Batts

"The counselors at Boude Storey Middle School are an integral part of the school. Saying it simply...they are the heart of the school.  Through guidance, responsive services, systems support and individual planning, our counselors are able to effectively produce a well-rounded comprehensive guidance program"
